The hybrid commercial livestock is represented by animals obtained by two-breed crossing father Landrace x mother Yorkshire. High genetic achievements in terms of growth rate, lean meat percentage and feed conversion, observed in the Duroc breed, are effectively transferred to hybrid offspring - marketable pigs.

At the same time, F1 parental pigs obtained according to the classic hybridization scheme ♀YY (Yorkshire mom) x ♂LL (Landrace dad) provide unsurpassed prolificacy (18.1 piglets on average per farrow) and excellent maternal qualities. Heterosis provides an additional increase in the performance of hybrid commercial livestock to levels that exceed expectations. The age of reaching the weight of 115 kg is 157 days, the feed conversion rate for the herd is 2.67.

The pig can be recognized by its short, muscular neck, broad and fleshy shoulders, large hams, and delicate pink skin with sparse, light bristles.

Its large elastic ears can stick out with their tips up, forward or in different directions. Yorkshire meat is considered very high quality and is called marbled.

The breed was bred in Denmark in the early twentieth century. Landraces are distinguished by a narrow chest and a torso widening towards the back, an elongated head, a straight back and shortened legs. A characteristic feature is the large long ears hanging over the eyes.

Landrace is considered one of the best in the category of bacon pigs. A feature of the breed is the high content of lean meat in the carcass and a thin layer of subcutaneous fat. In terms of meat content and lesser fat thickness, they are 2-5% superior to other breeds.

The Duroc pig breed originated from the crossing of Red Guinea pigs with Berkshire pigs. Pigs have good indicators of meat productivity. Their distinguishing feature is the coloring, called the "red suit". The color ranges from dark red to golden. The breed is characterized by long ears, arched back, strong legs and sharply defined hams.

Duroc pigs are not very prolific - a sow can have 9-11 piglets in one farrowing. Pigs are born quite large (1100-1600 g), able to reach a live weight of 100 kg in 170-180 days. Duroc pigs are hardy and have good adaptability. Males reach a live weight of 300-360 kg, females - 240-300 kg. The layer of subcutaneous fat does not exceed 3 cm in Duroc pigs, with the content of 80% meat in the carcass of an adult pig.
